Main Runway 12/30 Rehabilitation scheduled for April 30, 2018 – May 18, 2018

Runway 12/30 Rehabilitation
The main runway at BZN, runway 12/30, was last rehabilitated in 2003.  Asphalt has a lifespan of about 15 years when subject to the forces of aircraft landing and taking off on a regular basis.  Consequently, after thorough planning and coordination, we have scheduled the rehabilitation of runway 12/30 beginning on April 30, 2018 and continuing through May 18, 2018.

While most non-airline operations will be able to utilize our soon to be completed runway 11/29, airline operations will be impacted as they require the much larger main runway.  In order to minimize the impact, we have elected to rehabilitate portions of the runway that can be completed within a 10.5 hour period over 19 days including contingency time for spring weather.  This type of rehabilitation will allow us to maintain airline arrivals and departures every day until 12:30 p.m. when we will close the runway for construction until 11:00 p.m. when we will re-open the runway for late evening airline arrivals.  While we will see some late afternoon arrivals and departures cancelled during this period, our airline partners are already in the process of rescheduling flights within the operating period often with larger aircraft so that there is minimal impact on choices for passengers flying in and out of BZN throughout the construction period.  This project will cost approximately $6.1 million and will be funded 90% through FAA entitlement and discretionary grants and 10% through internally generated airport capital improvement funding.
