In the event you arrive at the airport without valid identification, because it is lost or at home, you may still be allowed to fly. The TSA officer may ask you to complete a form to include your name and current address, and may ask additional questions to confirm your identity. If your identity is confirmed, you will be allowed to enter the screening checkpoint. You may be subject to additional screening.

You will not be allowed to fly if your identity cannot be confirmed, you chose to not provide proper identification or you decline to cooperate with the identity verification process.

TSA recommends you arrive at least two hours in advance of your flight time to allow ample time for security screening and boarding the aircraft.

It is recommended that you arrive two hours prior to the departure time for check-in and security screening. We encourage passengers to give themselves additional time during peak travel periods and inclement weather.

TSA will continue to accept all valid IDs to board domestic commercial flights until May 7, 2025. At that time, every air traveler 18 years of age and older will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card, state-issued enhanced driver’s license, or another TSA-acceptable form of identification at airport security checkpoints for domestic air travel. Visit mtrealid.gov for the latest information, FAQs, a list of locations offering REAL ID, costs, and the ability to schedule an appointment to get a REAL ID. 

Arrangements can be made to stay overnight in the building if needed. Please contact an Airport Public Safety Officer at (406) 581-5490 to check in with them. They may request your ID.

We recommend using the “What Can I Bring?” tool on the tsa.gov site. Learn what you can and can't take with you through the security checkpoint when you fly. Results will let you know if the item can be carried-on, packed in your checked baggage, or if it's not permitted for plane travel. The tool covers everything from CPAP machines to medication to baby food to e-cigarettes.

You may transport unloaded firearms in a locked hard-sided container as checked baggage only. Declare the firearm and/or ammunition to the airline when checking your bag at the ticket counter. The container must completely secure the firearm from being accessed. Locked cases that can be easily opened are not permitted. Be aware that the container the firearm was in when purchased may not adequately secure the firearm when it is transported in checked baggage, nor do clam shell suitcases. 

The passenger's airline can issue a pass for someone to escort an unaccompanied minor child, an elderly person or someone with physical challenges through the security screening checkpoint and to the gate. A pass can also be issued to meet passengers that need special assistance at the gate.

Please be aware that you are still required to show valid government issued photo identification. Allow plenty of time to complete this process with the airline at their ticket counter. It will be helpful if you alert the airline to this request when making reservations. Typically, the airline will only issue one pass. Therefore, you should not bring other children with you.

This service is provided by each airline. You should notify them when you make your airline reservation.

Since we do not currently have scheduled international flights, the airport does not have foreign currency exchange or money transfer located at the airport. However, banks located in Bozeman and Belgrade provide this service to account holders for a fee. Due to this, we suggest that travelers exchange currency at an international hub or in their home country before arriving in Bozeman.

There are no smoking areas past security checkpoint. Smoking is permitted only in designated curbside areas on the first level.

You must now apply for authorization to fly near BZN through the Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC) system. This system allows drone pilots to obtain near real-time airspace authorizations, if the user intends to fly below pre-approved altitudes in controlled airspace.
